Kai Iwi Beach Cliffs
Walking north up Kai Iwi beach, on the west coast of New Zealand, on a cloudless day.
Enjoy the sparkling sand and relaxing wave sounds. You begin by walking the waterline at low tide. Several streams in the beach are crossed before turning towards the cliffs. Observe the eroded cliff face and listen to the dripping of fresh water where underground waterways end.
Towering cliffs and excellent surf make this beach special. The waves reach the base of the cliffs at high tide and erode them, causing frequent slips.
